7th Framework Program

The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) refers to the next programme in a series of multi-annual Framework Programmes that have been the European Union's main instrument for funding R&D since 1984. Programmes have so far been conceived for a period of five years. FP7, however, is proposed for the period 2007-2013.
The total European Commission (EC) budget of FP7 is € 53.2 billion.

The broad objectives of FP7 have been grouped into four specific programmes: Cooperation, Ideas, People and Capacities and a fifth specific programme on nuclear research..All specific programmes work together to promote and encourage the creation of European poles of scientific excellence.
